Blk is the new black. Or so all the cool kids would have you believe. In case you haven’t come across it, Blk is, quite simply, black mineral water.
Really, densely, inkily, intensely black.
This isn’t just a fashion statement (though come ON – how cool?) What makes the water black is fulvic minerals which are added to Canadian spring water. Nothing else – no colouring, no dye, no additives. Just minerals which are black.
But why bother (apart from the fact that it looks crazy?) Well, Blk water contains 77 trace minerals, which do clever stuff like helping you sleep and improving your concentration. It’s unusually alkaline (pH 8-9) which is good for your immune system and can help ward off cancer, and it contains a whole bunch of electrolytes which are brilliant for hydration.
But how does it taste? Well… just like water. No weird after taste. Just… watery. And once I’d got over the initial excitement of just drinking it from the bottle (“But it’s black! And it tastes of water! And it’s so cool! And it’s black!”) we started to have some fun with it.
We made coffee from it (even darker than my usual coffee though in truth probably not that much of a difference).
We made it into ice cubes – the minerals separated and created a beautiful marble effect.
And we made it into squash with blackcurrant to make it even darker.
So. Much. Fun.
And did I mention how cool it was?
Why not give it a go? And if you come up with some fun ways to use it, let me know!
